First Day x Two
constantlyunderwhelmed

July
First days at work can sometimes be like first dates, at least for me: I get dressed up, I sweat a lot, and I try to leave a positive first impression. This past week, my first for COLAB, I was fortunate enough to try out two agencies for the first time. My assigned first agency, FRANK, took Tuesday off, so I went to Ascentium with Pat for a copywriter double date (it wasn’t that much of a date; we split lunch). Associate Creative Director Mason West gave us both research to complete for a client and we went to work, scouring the Internet for information that will hopefully help their client. I’m thankful that Mason let me come in for a day to explore Ascentium and their cool digs, and for the chance to do some work there.
On Wednesday, I started my copywriting job at FRANK. I was thrown into projects and meetings right away, and so far I’ve had the chance to work with great people like David, Lucas and Aaron who have taken the time to talk with me and show me what it is like to work in their agency. The first two days were pretty hectic but in the best way possible. I was thrown on real projects for real clients and I couldn’t be happier. Very excited for week two.
On Friday, we got the rare chance (seriously, people pay 3500 bucks to do it) to tour the Moonstruck factory on the outskirts of town. All I can say is Julian, the master chocolatier, is a G. I wish he was my uncle. The craftsmanship and care they put into every piece of chocolate is evident everywhere you turn. And we saw (and tasted) the tumbled chocolate process, as well as some very cool truffles. Thanks to Allyson and the entire Moonstruck team for letting us check out their space and hosting us!
Finally, we went to XPLANE in the afternoon for some words of wisdom from Tom and Roel. The exercises and discussions we had were extremely valuable, and their space is magnificent. I feel like the Marble crew really benefitted from what we did there. All in all, this was a great first week at the COLAB. If every week is this productive then I have no doubt everyone, including Moonstruck, is going to walk away from the experience with a positive memory.
