Can I get a COLAB rehab?

Hello world!
Well it’s official, the chance-of-a-lifetime internship has come to an end! But what a glorious end it was, my friends! On Friday both Hi-Res and Knack presented our best ideas to Kathy and John, the Tillamook representatives, as well as an audience of our COLAB mentors and supporters.
We arrived before 9 am at Pop Art, and practiced our presentations until 12. Now, I’m not usually the type of person to get nervous for presentations, but man oh man was I nervous. Hi-Res went first, leaving team Knack to sit and wait for our turn to roll around. I opted to pass the time, and get out my nerves, with a dance party. Some were receptive to this outlet (Nicole!) while others merely mocked me (Ken!). But in the end, our turn finally came to get out there and knock their socks off. I couldn’t help but have the words of Jamie Sexton echoing in my head “Honestly it doesn’t matter what you’ve done over the past 5 weeks, it all comes down to how you sell it!” Thanks Jamie, no pressure on that one!
But as we lined up, booted up our powerpoint, and started to present I felt a bit of calm roll over me. We had worked our butts off. We had founded our campaign creative in solid research, brand strategy, and a whole lot of hard work. Everything we did was intentional, and we believed in it 100%. All we had to do was get that across to the client. And we did! We all knew our stuff so well that the presentation went off without a hitch, and afterward we felt great.
As Andrew said in his posts, Knack won. It felt great, but all of us interns have so much to be proud of that it almost doesn’t matter. We’ve accomplished a lot in 6 weeks. I know I’ve been through more than I ever could have imagined. I went from a fiction writer with a knack for creativity and words, to a copywriter. I started from scratch and have built my advertising expertise from the ground up. And I found a career that I’m not only passionate about, but I’m pretty good at, too! Not many other people can say that about their internships!
There is one lingering side effect of this miraculous journey, though- withdrawal. I’m suffering from anxiety and stress, simply because I have nothing to do! I’m so used to working in hyperdrive, now, constantly juggling campaigns and tasks. But now, I get to relax. And I’m not so sure I like it. I’d much rather remain a COLAB junkie.
My name is Carrie Dunn, and I’m an advertising addict.
